Position Summary:

The Group IT Manager will be responsible for overseeing the company’s IT operations across all international offices, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable systems that support both shore-based and vessel-based operations. This includes the analysis of organizational processes and their optimization. The role requires a strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise and excellent cross-cultural communication skills. The Group IT Manager reports to the Group Fleet Director and to the Group Shipmanagement Director. Location: Hamburg or Singapore.

Job scope:

– Develop and implement the global IT strategy aligned with business goals.
– Analyse and optimize internal processes
– Lead IT projects including ERP upgrades, cybersecurity initiatives, and digital transformation.
– Further develop our proprietary ship IT infrastructure together with an external service provider
– Supervise and mentor internal and external IT support teams in Hamburg, Singapore, and Manila.
– Oversee the performance, maintenance and optimization of IT infrastructure
– Manage backups, disaster recovery plans, and business continuity protocols.
– Develop and monitor cybersecurity policies and procedures.
– Manage cybersecurity and other IT related audits of Company offices and on board the ships
– Manage IT budgets, procurement, and vendor relationships.
– Organize training sessions to improve digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness among staff.

Key Accountabilities and Skills:

– Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
– Minimum 5 years of experience in IT management, preferably in the maritime or logistics industry.
– Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft 365, Azure, and cybersecurity frameworks.
– Experience with maritime-specific software (e.g., planned maintenance systems, crew management tools) is a plus.
– Excellent communication skills in English
– Willingness to travel regularly between and working in various offices.

Job Description – GROUP IT MANAGER

Group Crewing Manager (f/m/d) Singapore Office

Position Summary:

The Group Crewing Manager will be responsible for managing AL Group’s Crewing Department which is located in Singapore and Hamburg. The position encompasses further developing the crewing strategy of AL Group, supervising the crewing agencies and identify new sources of crew. The Group Crewing Manager will report to Group Sipmanagement Director and Group Fleet Director and will be supported by the Deptuy Crewing Manager located in Hamburg. This position is located in Singapore.

Job scope:
– Managing all crewing activities of AL Group
– Team-leader and superior of the Crew Department
– Maintain and raise the performance level of crews onboard
– Crew planning, liaising with responsible Directors and Technical Superintendents
– Improving, developing and implementing crewing and crew-development strategies, namely strategies for crew selection and promotion, training and strategies to maintain and improve crew retention
– Supervising crewing agencies and improving their selection processes and strategies
– Contract management
– Contributing to further develop crew related parts of safety management system
– Prepare and supervise crewing budgets.
Key Accountabilities and Skills:
– Several years of experience in a crewing department, ideally including as team leader; applicants without experience as a team leader but with the potential for development will have a chance
– Experience as nautical officer (Master, Chief Mate, Second Mate) and or
– University degree, ideally shipping related, or comparable training in shipping
– Unpretentious personality able to fit in a hands-on owner managed company with an above average social competence
– Travelling including visiting vessels, willingness to work several weeks per year from Germany
– Willingness to further training
– Experience and skills in business administration
– Computer skills
